Photo Info

As, I guess, nobody is interested in reading long texts on the net,
I will give a quick guide on how I edit my photos here...
All info is designed for the usage with Adobe PhotoShop 6.0
(or higher).

Photos coming from my Canon 20D:

1. I have not made any changes to the camara´s settings
(default settings from the manufacturer are used)

2. Photos are saved in RAW-Format (Camera Setting: "RAW + L";
"Large/Fine") on my "Compact Flash" drive

3. Photos are imported to Adobe Photoshop 6.0

4. Then the photo is opened and resized ("Image" --> "Image Size")

5. Then I use "Filter" --> "Sharpen" --> "Unsharp Mask" and set it to
"70%" for normal photos and "50%" for my overflight photos,
in order not to make the blue sky too grainy!

6. Then I save the photos as ".jpg" with a quality of "10" to get
a reasonable file size!

7. I use "Image" --> "Adjust" --> "Brightness/Contrast" to get a clearer image.
Do NOT use "Auto Contrast" or "Auto Levels"! This will make your photos much
too grainy!

8. ENJOY your work :-)!

Photos of K64 slides (scanned with Nikon Coolscan LS-V):

1. Open image (scanned in RAW format) in PhotoShop

2. Use the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" to define the desired photo
section

3. Copy (Crtl + C) and paste (Crtl + V) in a new window, by selcting
"New" in the "File" tab

4. Remove all dirt and dust by using the "Clone Stamp Tool"

5. Resize Image to desired dimensions ("Image" --> "Image Size")

6. Use "Filter" --> "Sharpen" --> "Unsharp Mask" to make the image
sharper. Different settings are needed depending on the scan and slide
quality

7. Then use "Image" --> "Adjust" --> "Curves" --> "Set white point"
(point onto a white part of the photo) in order to clear and lighten up
your photo

8. Some photos may look better with "Auto Levels" or "Auto Contrast".
Just try all possibilities to get the optimum result!

9. Again ENJOY your final version of the photo :-)!
